An Unforgettable Solo vacation to Mexico

A lone traveller experience is just what the doctor ordered

lone traveller experience to Riviera Maya Mexico.

Guess what? I traveled to another country all by myself.  Your girl went on as a lone traveller or traveled solo to Riviera Maya, Mexico under  the travel magazine Parlour Magazine, hosted by Ty Alexander of goreousingrey.com.  The trip is designed to help women explore, relax and vacation how we want.  I have never been on a solo trip but I can honestly tell you this will not be my last. Especially if I am staying at  a resort like Unico 20 80, which is the definition of luxury. I feel real “boujie” after my stay at the hotel.  I’ll get into that later when I come of my high horse of  relaxation. Traveling alone is not as scary as it may sound. TIP: Mind your own business when going trough international airports. Also TIP: try not to look so lost, have all your travel plans arranged and go over them before you leave.

Why be a lone traveller?

lone traveller experience to Riviera Maya Mexico.

Why did I travel solo or a lone to another country? Well it’s simple, I needed a break and a breather. I’m a lot of things, to a lot of people and for  4 days I didn’t want to be any of those things. I just wanted to be Ebony. It is almost as if it was meant for me to be alone to gather my thoughts. I was able to do excursions that I choose, eat the food I wanted, and finish a book all at my own speed. I didn’t have to wait for anyone to do anything. Eventually I meet wonderful ladies that where apart of the Parlour Magazine group, but I knew none of them. I  forced myself to forget my stranger danger mode (for the group) and tap in to my boss woman lone traveller mode.

The Room

Unico 20 80 is by far one of the more exquisite hotels I have ever been to. Everyone that was at the hotel, that I held conversations with, said the same thing, they paid great attention to detail. The earthy brown accent and the cream finishes are the perfect accompaniment to the beautiful beach you can see from most rooms. Now don’t get me started on the spa that this hotel has to offer. Right now inclusive spa treatments can be purchased for as little as 30 dollars, yep I got  30 dollar spa treatment and a 7 dollar manicure. It was amazing and heaven on earth and just as gorgeous and relaxing as the other property.

The Hotel

I had to give the hotel a separate section because the attention to detail was out of this world. There were pools, a gorgeous spa and the vegetation was beautiful as I walked around the resort. Quality and great service made me a happy woman.

What I ate on my lone traveller experience…

What is a vacation with out Good food and even better drinks? I loved the inclusive around the clock food. If you are up and 2 am order so food and that’s just what I did.  The resort housed Italian, Mexican, and Japanese upscale restaurants. My favorite was shocking the Italian, I thought the Mexican could have been more authentic instead of upscale. But the food was really good including the poolside food and drinks, like the fried red snapper.

My Solo Trip Excursion

So this section is short because I lost the pictures for this… Sorry 🙁 . But I did go ATV riding, Zip lining in the jungle, and swam in an underground cave called a centoe. Also little fish nipped at my feet. I love every minute of it and went with other people from surrounding hotels which felt like we were like best friends.

The Women I Met

I’ll keep this short. I met amazing boss women that were apart of the travel group. as mentioned before, you could be alone or hang around and mingle with others, I did both. But shout out to Char, Katie(two amazing and bomb bloggers), Jenny, Shannon, Sarai and Wes(travel blogger) . I am back from my trip and feel refreshed calm and stronger because I did something I know I needed. I have learned to be fearless and confident. Shout out to hubby for his support! P.S. don’t drink the water or eat the ice, the ice got me….let’s just say I found out the hard way.

I really, REALLY enjoyed this post! Through your writing and pictures, I kinda feel like I was there with you! Girl – good on you for doing a solo trip. I did so myself to NYC. The husband was abroad for work, I booked a train to New York…and it was the BEST TRIP EVER.

This hotel looks truly luxurious!!! $7 mani? That’s unheard of, and that balcony bathtub? I probably would have never gotten out of it. LOL! And that fish dinner? DAMMMNNNN.

I loved your statement about being so many things to so many people! That’s me, totally, and it really gave me a new perspective on why I should try to take a solo trip. I’m also loving the resort you stayed at!

I LOVE solo travel. Glad to see you had such a great trip. My favorite part of the hotel definitely would have been that outdoor bath…nothing like a soak in nature on a warm, sunny day.

This is something that I would love to do. I have always been afraid to travel by myself. Now I have a family and I want them to travel with me. But I def think everyone should travel alone at least once to relax. Beautiful pictures

I love to travel and keep saying I want to do a solo international trip. I’ve been too scared. Like your idea of attending a conference or retreat.
