Happy Birthday Grandma and 1st year Blogging Anniversary to Me!!!!

Happy Birthday Grandma, One year blog anniversary.

Wow I made it my first year in blogging, can you believe it? I remember everything about my journey to writing, the ups and the downs in one year! I am so excited to be doing what I love and being able to inspire others. So I’ll keep this short, sweet and to the point. The title says Happy Birthday Grandma. *Looks around* what does that have to do with blogging? Everything. Here is a few questions I get in my inbox and some I just feel like answering, that will explain how I got to this point.

Blog Questions:

1. How did you know you wanted to blog?

A: I was in my car one day praying to God about life and such. I heard him say, start a website. So I did, it’s honestly that simple. I have always been a person who needed to see words. I like to have them post where I can see them. I have written poems and journals for years, so it all goes hand and hand. No one knows, but in college I did spoken word often, it was my favorite. So when I heard a confirmation from God, I knew.

2. Where did you come up with the name?

A. When coming up with a name for anything you are being expressive with, make sure it makes sense and it means something. I wanted something to give back to women. To build  women up and let them know it’s OK to give to others and also give to yourself. I thought about the one who rarely give to herself, but also the true definition of what a women means to me, my grandma.

3. What about your logo?

A. My logo is also a dedication to my grandma (Happy Birthday Grandma lol.). Its simple, clean and elegant. Not a whole lot of fuss. The large pink “E” that stands out, is for her first name. The “E’ is intentionally shaped like a heart, because she is my heart of course.

4. Why Dec 4th?

A. Because it’s my grandmother’s birthday, duh. Just Kidding, it was One of the days that meant the most to me and I needed a deadline once I started planning so I chose December the 4th. Tip: Have a deadline when starting a blog.

5. Any blogging tips?

A. I had a lot of setbacks during this year. I decided that I was passionate about writing and wanted to make It a business,  had to re think how I thought and blogged. I completely changed my layout and platform and lost a couple blogs causing me to start over. I kept going…

  • Don’t Give up!
  • Stay Consistant
  • Join Facebook groups
  • Be yourself
  • If you would like to make money one day, go with a self hosted website
  • Put yourself in the room( that will make more sense when you start, but it just means get around other bloggers.)

Happy Birthday Grandma, One year blog anniversary.

The day my grandmother moved out of my childhood home.

To my First love… Happy Birthday Grandma

Ma, today I publicly honor the woman you are, the woman that so many aspire to be. Your selfless acts of kindness love and dedication will forever reign in the hearts of many. Your home cooked meals have filled not only our belly’s but our hearts with love. The summers you cooked for 40 or so people in a tiny two bedroom house,  beads of sweat pour off your face, as you sat and watched your family laugh and joke. Some of us too sensitive to handle what the other was saying. You rarely get in the middle. I know we as a family have not always done good things, but I’m sure we can always say, “mama is always there.” I mean- how you do it, I will never know.

As for me you have sat with me in the middle of the night and wiped tears from my eyes. Sacrificed 100 times over financially so I could have everything I needed and wanted. No matter where I am in the world, you find me, No matter how much I mask a sad day, a simple “hey ma,” and your response, what’s wrong? How do you do that? Seriously I don’t know how you made a way for me but you always did. For years in this house, it was just you and I on the same wave length, In sync like you birthed me from your belly. cracked walls, weak floors, imperfect door frames, but it always felt like the best place on earth…Home we called it. The same place every grandchild of yours has had time to dwell, including my own children and husband. I’m so grateful.

Happy Birthday Grandma, One year blog anniversary.

A love I will never forget or take for granted. I don’t want to be the woman you are because I will never get to that level, God made Emma special, no duplicates, no copies. But if I can make you proud, then that’s enough for me. I know one of your purposes in life is to be a nurturer, and a person that gives her heart without regret. If ever I’m asked who my grandmother is, I will say, “She is a woman who lives HER LIFE ON PURPOSE.”
